BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! is the fourth anime in the BanG Dream! series. It is the first Bandori anime to focus on a specific band, covering the titular band. It was announced on April 9, 2023 before premiering on June 29, 2023.
Tomori Takamatsu is a new student in Haneoka High School who is unable to relate to her peers due to her quirks. She is also traumatized by the disbandment of her previous band, CRYCHIC. Her life would soon change when Anon Chihaya transfers to her school and pushes her to try forming a band once more. They soon start assembling the new band, with two former members of CRYCHIC and another new member joining them. However, conflicts eventually appeared as the members start showing the baggages of issues they have, threatening to tear apart the nascent band.
"Would you trope with me for the rest of your life?":
- Big Bad: Sakiko Togawa is the main source of the drama in the anime. She was the former band mate of Tomori who created her band before she disbanded it after their first live for reasons unknown.
- Big Fancy House: Sakiko lives in one during her middle school years, complete with its own grand piano set. It later turns out Sakiko doesn't live there anymore by the time of the anime, with Sakiko and her father moving to a cheaper apartment.
- Bittersweet Ending: After everything they have gone through, the band stays together and gets a proper name as MyGO!!!!! However, the members would have to continue working on their personal issues. In addition, Sakiko is shown to have formed her new band, Ave Mujica, but a glimpse of her personal issue is seen, showing that it's her and her bandmates turn to deal with their own problems in the sequel.
- Breaking Old Trends: Instead of focusing on every band, this is the first series to focus primarily on a single band.
- Darker and Edgier: This spin-off adds a lot more drama compared to the original anime, as this show deals with heavy subject matter such as depression, past trauma, divorce, and even betrayal. Aesthetically, the anime features a more muted color compared to previous Bandori anime seasons.
- "Do It Yourself" Theme Tune: The opening theme, "Hitoshizuku", and the ending theme, "Shiori", are both performed by MyGO!!!!!.
- Downer Beginning: In stark contrast the the hopeful and uplifting opening scenes of the main anime, the MyGO anime begins with Sakiko Togawa quitting and disbanding CRYCHIC without explanation, soaking wet from the rain, and Soyo and Taki fail to convince her to stay. To twist the knife further, the guitarist, Mutsumi Wakaba, outright states that she never enjoyed playing in the band when questioned, and it's all topped off with a Gray Rain of Depression in the background. This event leaves Tomori traumatized in the present day.
- Genre Shift: While the native series is a light-hearted comedy centering around the equally light-hearted Poppin'Party band, It's MyGO!!!!! is a serious drama focusing on the struggles of the titular bandmates following the departure of CRYCHIC.
- Gratuitous English: Anon's brief time as a high schooler in the UK depicts the local teacher and students speaking entirely in their native language.
- Horrible Housing: Sakiko's new residence after she moved out from her family's mansion is a downtrodden small apartment, complete with trash littering the place.
- Joshikousei: As usual, the uniforms of Hanasakigawa Junior High and High, as well as Tsukinomori Academy. Sakiko used to wear it when she attended Tsukinomori before transferring to Haneoka, which uses blazers, while Taki discovers Raana attends Hanasakigawa after seeing her with the uniform after school, having only seen her in her casual clothes in RiNG previously.
- Mess of Woe: The room of Sakiko's alcoholic father in his new housing is littered with empty bottles of alcohol.
- Putting the Band Back Together: Episode 10. After the band falls apart at the end of previous episode, Tomori, following some encouragement from Uika, starts performing solo shows, where she recites her lyrics. She is quickly joined by Raana, who soon brings Taki back, dragging her from work to stage. Tomori is trying to convince Anon to come back, but the latter is hesitant, as she feels the band is better off without her, though she eventually returns. Finally, Anon brings back Soyo, who initially claims to come back only to put an end to it all, but after a tearful performance the whole band stays together.
- Previously, this was Soyo's goal regarding CRYCHIC. However, when Sakiko bluntly refuses to reform that band, Soyo gives up on both CRYCHIC and (at that time unnamed) MyGo!!!!!, resulting in drama that ends up breaking MyGo!!!!! in the first place.
- Real-Place Background: The series continues the series tradition almost entirely basing the locations featured in the anime around existing real life buildings in the Toshima and Shinjuku wards of Tokyo, particularly those in the Ikebukuro district. The characters' homes and the studios/live houses they visit look identical to their real-life counterparts, the tram track they take to get home correspond to the Tokyo Sakura Tram, and the bridge Tomori and Taki usually cross is basically a recreation of a now-demolished one. Outside of the two wards, Soyo's penthouse matches up with a building in Roppongi.
- Secret Diary: Tomori keeps a diary where she vents her negative feelings about herself. Sakiko opens it during their middle school year while visiting her house and mistakes Tomori's venting for song lyrics, resulting in the formation of CRYCHIC.
- Sequel Hook: The final episode is dedicated to Sakiko's effort in putting together her own band, Ave Mujica, up to their debut. It then ends with her returning to her new, more downscale apartment to meet her drunkard father, setting up her band's own anime and its exploration of the issues its members will have to face.
- Sequel Series: The show takes place about a year after the events of the anime's 3rd season. In turn, the events of this anime concurrently aligned with the timeframe of Season 3 in Girls Band Party!.
- Take Back Your Gift: After MyGO!!!!!'s performance near the end of the series, Mutsumi quietly gifts Soyo cucumbers inside fancy-looking bags. Unfortunately, Soyo is angered by the offering and quickly returns the gift back to Mutsumi.
- Wham Episode:
- Ep. 7. While MyGO!!!!!'s first gig is a success, Soyo suddenly snaps and lashes out at her bandmates for playing CRYCHIC's song "Haruhikage" despite not intending to do so.
Soyo: "Why did we play "Haruhikage"!?"
- Ep. 9. Having failed to convince Sakiko and Mutsumi to reform CRYCHIC with her, Soyo betrays MyGO!!!!!, revealing that she lied about her promise to Tomori in order to ensure that she and Taki would stay with her and that she didn't actually want Anon and Rāna in the band, only tolerating Anon in particular because she saw her as leverage to achieve her goal. Anon is not happy upon learning Soyo saw her as unneeded and expendable, and at the end of the episode she quits the band, leaving Tomori and Taki as the only remaining members. With her past trauma reawakened, Tomori is left in tears and undergoes a Heroic BSoD the following episode.
- The last scene of the final Episode is this in spades. It's revealed that Sakiko used to be rich and is currently living in poverty due to her alcoholic father's actions, which is the crux of her bitter attitude during the series' proper.
Sakiko: "I'm home... Useless father."
- Ep. 7. While MyGO!!!!!'s first gig is a success, Soyo suddenly snaps and lashes out at her bandmates for playing CRYCHIC's song "Haruhikage" despite not intending to do so.
- Whole Episode Flashback: Episode 3 is told from Tomori's point-of-view and revolves around her childhood as well as the events of CRYCHIC's formation and their eventual disbandment.
